The Assassin’s Creed series centers around the use of a piece of future tech, the “Animus,” which allows a Helix Initiate (the player) access to genetic memories from the past. The protagonist of each story/game is a member of the Assassin’s Brotherhood in its epic conflict with with the Templars to recover ancient artifacts known only as “Pieces of Eden.”

This juxtaposition of past and present allows for the opportunity to use a similar concept in the design, by combining a clean, modern layout with fictional images of the historic past.
