Wings Of Liberty

The story of the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Limited Edition cover is one of those rare situations where a person makes an offhand comment that turns into something special.

During a preliminary review of the cover concept, someone on Blizzards end of the conference call said “that might look nice monochromatic?” The comment went unnoticed in the meeting, but it was all the inspiration necessary. After I adjusted the art to a silvery Ansel Adams look and added a refractive foil behind the logo to make it pop, the cover was approved. This cover went on to receive the Pewter Award in the Gold Ink Awards competition the following year.
