Creating these cover designs for our Destiny Limited Edition guide was a lot of fun! After reviewing the art for the guide I asked if we could have three covers because the art of the three classes was so compelling. My concept was to use 4-color overprinting foil stamping on the helmets, reducing the print opacity or blocking it out entirely on the visors and metallic areas, particularly where the paint was chipped off. Then add an overall gloss UV, topped off with our print vendors proprietary\u00a0process called Duracoat. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The Duracoat process added a spot matte finish over the gloss UV allowing for matte gradients. This made it possible to dull the fabric, shadows, and backgrounds while allowing: the painted helmets to appear to be a semi-glossy metallic, the visors to look glassy, and the bare metal to shine.
